The Basics: Where and How to Purchase Merchandise

Have you ever wanted to work for yourself? Do you love to shop? Are you a bargain hunter? Well put those skills to good use and make some money! There are hundreds of opportunities to earn some cash from retail stores by purchasing clearance merchandise and selling it on eBay. Some of the best are Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Home Goods, but you can also look at large department stores such as Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Burlington Coat Factory. One of the best things about Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Home Goods is the fact that the merchandise is already much lower than the MSRP, and you can get deep discounts when you raid the clearance racks.
It’s best to have a smart phone with internet capabilities with you while you go shopping. When you find a good deal you can look the item up on eBay to see how much other sellers are selling the item for. You can also look at completed listings in order to see what the going rate has been for similar items in the past few days. You want to make sure that you can make a good profit before you buy the item. Keep in mind that you will have to pay sales tax on the item in addition to eBay and PayPal fees. For example, if you find a pair of jeans for $15 and they have recently been selling for about $25, it seems like a really good deal. However, after eBay fees, PayPal fees, and sales tax you will only come out with about $3 in profit. If that same $15 pair of jeans has been selling for $40, it is definitely worth it; your profit will be about $17. Keep in mind that eBay has different final value fee percentages depending on the category your item is listed in.
